Welcome to my blog!
I am a young football fan who goes about his daily work like any football supporter or average worker would, I am no different to the millions who wait through the week for the weekend to watch their team hopefully win, or maybe lose, or in some cases, draw. Football is my passion, proper football. In my eyes, EFL or Football League football is THE standard of football which is most enjoyable to watch. The spectrum over each of the league's clubs is huge. For example in the championship the likes of Newcastle and Aston Villa who have played the vast majority of their football in the Premier League match up against tiny, unknown clubs who have risen right from the bottom in a short space of time, in the Championship these clubs are the likes of Burton, promoted from the National League under 10 years ago or Rotherham United who in 2010 were beaten in a League Two play off final by Dagenham & Redbridge, now of the National League. This is the beauty of the Football League, these small, unheard of stories that take place and are not written about in the light they should be.
That is the reason I started my blog, to give the smaller clubs in the Football League a voice I believe they deserve. Give me a topic in the EFL I will research, draft then publish my thoughts on the matter. Ask any Chelsea, Man United, Man City, Arsenal, Tottenham or Liverpool fan which team boasts the longest unbeaten run in league football this season. They would probably say one of those clubs, not looking into the 'hidden' stats. If you do look at those hidden stats you would see that the longest unbeaten run in league football this season actually belongs to Fleetwood Town of League 1 who went 18 games unbeaten. Impressive right?
I will confess before I go on with my next short story that I support Stevenage of League 2 and I may show a slight bias towards them, however I will try not to and that does not mean I won't praise rival clubs in the league such as Luton Town or Barnet! However, on 21st January 2017, my Boro lost 2-0 away at Hartlepool and were sitting 15th in League 2 on 33 points, 7 points off the playoffs and 15 points off automatic promotion. In an extraordinary change of events manager Darren Sarll and his team have won 8 of their last 10 only losing 1, a 1-0 loss to Blackpool, a club in the Premier League 6 years ago. Saturday's 3-0 win over promotion rivals Portsmouth means Stevenage now sit 4th in the league, 4 points clear in the playoffs and 4 points off automatic promotion.
This is the beauty of the Football League.
Please leave suggestions for a topic you would like me to write about, and retweet/spread the word, all support is appreciated!
